Overview

Empagliflozin is an SGLT2 inhibitor used to treat type 2 diabetes and reduce the risk of cardiovascular death in adults with heart disease and diabetes. It works by preventing the kidneys from reabsorbing glucose back into the blood, causing excess glucose to be excreted in the urine.
